Local Cycling Groups

There is a fantastic range of local cycling groups who are active in your community. Why not get involved and enjoy the social side of cycling? There is something for everyone, from leisure rides, off-road cycling, over 50's groups and much more!

Kendal & District Cycle Scene (KDCS)

Organse regular rides throughout the year of varying degrees of difficulty. See www.kdcs.org.uk for more information.

South Lakes Rough Stuff Fellowship

Specialise in organising off road cycle trips. See www.southlakesgroup.org.uk for more information.

Kent Valley Road Club

the KVRC promotes club time trials from April until September in South Lakes. The club encourages riders of all standards and aspirations. They have nearly 100 members but newcomers - of either gender - are always welcome to come along and join in. See www.kentvalley.co.uk for more information.

Mint Cake MTB

Mint Cake MTB is a Kendal based group of Mountain Bikers with a common interest in Trailquests. They compete up and down the country in various MTB and navigational events. The club is affiliated to the Trail Cyclists Association and they run a popular local Winter TQ Series of 3hr events in the South Lakes and W Yorks area. University of the Third Age (U3A)

Wheely Good Communities

Are a community project aspiring to make our local villages places where people feel confident to use their bicycles for local journeys. In other words: Wheely Good Communities. See www.familyonabike.org for more information.

South Lakes Action on Climate Change (SLACC)

An active group who campaign to improve cycling provision locally, organise cycling related events, provide free bicycles to the community and offer cycle training services. Always in need of supporters, helpers and volunteers. See www.slacc.org.uk for more information.

Transition South Lakes (TSL)

TSL has a transport group which meet every month to plan events, many of which revolve around cycling, such as cyclefest. See www.transition-south-lakes.org.uk for more information.
